Virtual Tour
08-Oct-2009 - Please join us on a virtual tour of Sturgeon Heights School.  Enjoy a "walk" through the hallways, offices and classrooms that are in use every day of the school year.

The pictures are in order of grade, beginning with Headstart, and following along with Kindergarten to Grade 9.

Sturgeon Heights is a round school - you always end up back where you began!!

Sturgeon Heights School has a history of building students of character with a foundation for success.  We have a reputation of strong academic programs and excellent results.

Although the majority of students are from acreage developments that surround the school, the K – 9 configuration and full day Kindergarten program are popular options with many neighbouring St. Albert families.  As well as putting a strong emphasis on academic achievement, the school provides a strong complementary program in the fine arts as well as an active extra curricular program.  Our school sports teams compete in an inter-school league and in local tournaments.  Through the school’s religious instruction program, the school and community hold annual celebrations.

The school’s Career and Technology Studies Foods facility and computer access provides a strong component to programming and practical skills as the students are preparing for the future.  All classrooms are equipped with FM sound field systems to enhance the learning

environment.  As well a Headstart Program class operates at Sturgeon Heights.

Sturgeon Heights School prides itself in a safe, caring  environment reinforcing the expectations of our community.  We recognize that educating our children is a partnership involving our community, parents and staff.  Through a collaborative process we have developed expectations for each stakeholder group and look to those expectations to guide our decisions.

Our school places a high priority on success for students, respect for each other and enthusiasm for learning.  We take a zero tolerance approach to dealing with matters of concern.  This means that consequences are based on maintaining dignity and developing a sense of the “right thing to do.”  Students at Sturgeon Heights develop an awareness of the larger society and learn tolerance for differences as they build qualities of good citizenship.  Our school

operates as a Professional Learning Community stressing the power of the collaborative process in making decisions and school improvement.  Directions are set based on input from all groups affected.

All students are invited to ‘Dare to Soar’ with us at Sturgeon Heights School.  We look forward to an exciting year geared toward meeting student needs and building a strong school community.
