Message from the Principal
It is once again my pleasure to welcome the members of our community to this wonderful school.
Sturgeon Heights strives to be a safe and caring environment in which to learn and develop social responsibility. We have a long history of high academic achievement and a reputation for excellence.
Our school and community believe in maintaining standards of behavior and respect which support
teaching, learning, citizenship and health.
This student handbook is designed for students and parents as a communication tool outlining some
of the important tenets which guide our operation as a school. It can also become an efficient information link between students, staff and parents. Students will use this tool to develop organizational skills and the responsibility for their own learning.
I encourage you to read through our mission and vision of the school and review the expectations of the various stakeholder groups which follow. These documents were developed collaboratively by staff, students and parents. Along with the calendar of events and some basic information, the handbook becomes a valuable way of organizing tasks, recording key learnings and planning for the best use of time.
The success of students and our school relies on the ongoing communication through a combination of newsletters, report cards, our website, Friday envelopes, parent-teacher interviews, phone calls, e-mails and face-to-face conversations. The important factor is that communication is timely and effective for all involved. We will endeavor to keep our website up-to-date with any changes. Our newsletters, along with many features about our school, are posted online. Please contact the school if you have any concerns, questions or issues.
